Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies

Who doesn't love Nutella?  These delicious cookies were deemed "stunning" by my daughter and my husband requested them for breakfast the following morning.  They are chewy on the inside and crisp on the outside.

Ingredients:
Yields 2 dozen
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1/2 c white sugar
  • 1/2 c packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2/3 c Nutella
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 c chocolate chips
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream together the butter, white sugar and brown sugar, until smooth.  Beat in the egg, Nutella, vanilla and salt.

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and cinnamon.  Gradually stir the flour mixture into the wet ingredients, until just combined.  Be careful to not over mix the dough.  Stir in the chocolate chips.  The batter will be thick.

Shape the cookie dough into a log that is 1 1/2 inches in diameter and wrap it in wax paper.  Chill in the refrigerator for 3 hours, or overnight.  When ready to bake, cut the cookie dough into 1/2-inch thick slices.  Place the cookies on lightly greased baking sheets.  NOTE:  These cookies are best if refrigerated first but you can skip this refrigeration step altogether, if desired.  Simply drop the dough by large spoonfuls and bake for 13 to 18 minutes.

Bake for 13 to 18 minutes.  Oven temperatures vary, so keep an eye on the cooking time.  For a crisp cookie on the outside that is chewy on the inside, it takes exactly 14 minutes in my oven.

Allow the cookies to sit in the baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing.  Remove the cookies to a rack to cool.

Enjoy!
