Caramel Apple Sangria

Sweet Honeycrisp apples, crisp sparkling apple cider, white wine, and caramel syrup join forces to create a fantastic festive libation!  Honey whiskey and vanilla bring out the flavor of the caramel, although the whiskey is optional (I used Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey Whiskey).  Because the apple cider, caramel and apples are so sweet, I opted for a drier white wine, but you can really use any wine you'd like.  Finally, the caramel/sugar-coated rim sets these babies over the moon!  This really is a delicious, sweet drink that is sure to be a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle sparkling apple cider
  • 1 bottle dry white wine
  • 2 shots honey whiskey, or desired amount
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c caramel syrup, plus more for coating rims
  • 3 Honeycrisp apples, cored and chopped
  • Sanding sugar

Directions:

Pour the apple cider, white wine, honey whiskey, and vanilla extract into a large pitcher.  Stir in the caramel syrup.  Add the chopped apples.

Pour some of the caramel syrup in a shallow bowl, and sprinkle some sanding sugar in another shallow bowl.  Roll the rims of serving glasses in the caramel syrup and then gently coat with the sanding sugar.

Pour into serving glasses immediately, or cover and chill until ready to use.

Enjoy!
