Homemade Steak Sauce

You can enjoy fork tender, melt in your mouth filet mignon right from your own kitchen.  If you really want to impress your guests, serve it with homemade steak sauce!  It's really easy to do and you probably have most of the ingredients already in your kitchen.

Ingredients:
Serves 2

  • 2 (8 ounce) filet mignon steaks
  • 2 tbsp butter, room temperature
  • Sea salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Homemade Steak Sauce

  • 1/2 c ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp water
  • 1/2 tsp onion salt
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/8 tsp celery salt

Directions:

Make the steak sauce.  In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, water, onion salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika and celery salt.  Cover and chill for at least 1 hour.

Allow the filet mignon to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes.  Preheat grill over medium heat.  Season the filet mignon on both sides with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper liberally.  Rub the butter evenly over both sides of the steaks.

Grill for 4 to 6 minutes on each side, depending on your desired doneness, using the finger test or a meat thermometer.  Allow the filet mignon to rest for 5 minutes.

Serve the grilled filet mignon with the steak sauce and enjoy!
