5 Minute, 5 Ingredient Microwave Chocolate Mug Cake

Baby, it's cold outside!  I don't know about where you live, but it was 0 degrees this morning in Pennsylvania!  Even schools were calling off because of the cold.  I decided to treat myself for braving the bitter cold weather today, so I made this warm chocolate cake... in  a mug, in the microwave, in 5 minutes.  Talk about instant gratification!  It's rich, delicious, incredibly easy to make, and takes just 5 ingredients.  Give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

  • 1/2 c chocolate chips (I used half semi-sweet and half milk chocolate)
  • 2 tbsp salted butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg

Add the chocolate chips and butter in a coffee mug.  Place the mug in a microwave and heat on high for 1 minute.  Stir.  Heat on high in increments of 10 seconds, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.

Pour the sugar and flour in the mug and stir until well combined.  Add the egg and stir well to combine.

Microwave on high for 2 to 2 1/2 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.  Remove the mug from the microwave and allow it to cool before eating.
