Homemade Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup

Instead of using condensed soup from a can with MSG, why not make your own?


  1. 1 tbsp butter
  2. 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  3. 1/2 c any type of broth
  4. 1/2 c milk or heavy cream
  5. Mushrooms, chopped and sauted
  6. Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Over medium-low heat, melt better in a saucepan.
  2. Gradually stir in flour until smooth and remove from heat.
  3. Gradually add in broth and milk, stirring until smooth.
  4. Stir in mushrooms.
  5. Return saucepan to heat and bring sauce to a gentle boil, stirring constantly until sauce thickens.
  6. Season with salt and pepper.
