Candy Pilgrim Hats and Oreo Turkey Treats

Looking for ways to use up all that Halloween candy?  I know I am!  Here are two Thanksgiving-themed treats you can assemble from your leftover Halloween candy.  These would be perfect for before or after your Thanksgiving meal!

CANDY PILGRIM HATS

Ingredients:
  • Mini Reese's peanut butter cups (leftover Halloween candy)
  • Fudge stripe cookies (leftover Halloween candy)
  • White, yellow and/or orange icing
Directions:

Place a Fudge Stripe cookie with the striped side down.  Using white, yellow or orange icing, pipe a circle around the hole of the cookie.  Gently press a Reese's peanut butter cup upside-down on top of the icing.

Pipe a small square of white, yellow or orange icing to make the hat buckle.

Enjoy!

OREO TURKEY TREATS

Ingredients:
  • Candy corn (leftover from Halloween candy)
  • Double-Stuffed Oreo cookies (leftover from Halloween candy)
  • Whoppers (leftover from Halloween candy)
  • Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (leftover from Halloween candy)
  • Black piping gel
  • Red icing
  • Orange icing
Directions:

Place your Peanut Butter Cups in the refrigerator to cool (this makes them easier to work with).

Assemble the tail.  Gently separate one side of the Oreo cookie very slightly, being careful not to break it.  Pipe some white icing between the sides.  Carefully place 5 Candy Corn in the icing.

Place another Oreo cookie flat on your working surface.  Pipe about a dime-size amount of white icing on the back end of the cookie.  Take the "tail" Oreo cookie that you assembled and place it on the dime-size amount of icing to have it stand up.  Hold it in place for a moment to allow it to set (if it does not stand up on its own, pipe some additional icing on the bottom cookie).

Remove your Peanut Butter Cups from the refrigerator.  Pipe a small amount of white icing on the larger flat side of a Peanut Butter Cup.  Press it up against the "tail" Oreo cookie (you may want to pipe some icing on the bottom of the Peanut Butter Cup, also).  Hold it in place for a moment, to allow it to set.

Pipe a small amount of white icing on one side of a Whopper.  Place the Whopper on top of the Peanut Butter Cup, to make the head.  Hold it in place for a moment, to allow it to set.

Find a piece of Candy Corn that has a big white end.  Cut it off using a sharp knife.  Pipe a small amount of white icing on the cut end and press it onto the Whopper, to make the beak.  Hold it in place for a moment, to allow it to set.

Using your white icing, pipe two round circles on the Whoppers, to make the eyes.  Pipe the black gel inside the white circles (or use small, round, black candies) to complete the eyes.

Using the orange icing, pipe thin lines on the bottom Oreo cookie, to make the feet.

Last step!  Pipe a thin line with the red icing around the beak, to make the wattle.

If you are travelling with these, remember to bring along some extra white icing in case something falls off!

Enjoy!
