Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 c heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- Butter
- 2 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/8-inch slices
- Sea salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 c Parmesan cheese PLUS more for broiling
- 1/3 c cheddar cheese
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In a saucepan, heat cream, garlic and nutmeg.
- In the meantime, butter a casserole dish.
- Place a layer of potatoes in overlapping pattern in the casserole. Season with salt and pepper.
- Remove cream from heat and pour a little over the potatoes. Top with Parmesan and cheddar cheese.
- Repeat with two more layers.
- Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
- Sprinkle Parmesan over all and broil until the cheese browns, about 5 minutes.
